Stockholm Christmas
Stockholm is a capital which can’t be compared to others. In the winter time it resembles a fantasy place due to its neat streets and decorations put on nearly every building. The best way to check what Christmas Eve in Stockholm smells and looks like is to visit the Old Town. Maybe it is due to that fantastic ambience that presents in the old town market.
Become a baker
There is a great place in Stockholm called Skansen. It is a very large open-air museum founded long ago in 1891. All types of local architecture can be found here. More than that, some of the historical buildings still work! Schools, bakeris, post offices and forging shops are the most attractive during the last pre-Christmas evening when everyone can go inside and join funny competitions.
Skansen also holds the Christmas market during whole December. All guests who would like to learn what “Stockholm tourism” is like should certainly visit it. You are not feeling like buying anything? OK, but what do you think about baking your Christmas bread in the bakery from 19th century? Challenging, isn’t it?
Christmas market in Skansen museum traditionally attracts hundreds and even thousands of people. Patience will help you a lot since there will probably be queues, although it’s still worth coming.
Shopping for non-shoppers
Stureplan square in Stockholm will attract you even if you are an inveterate shopping hater. Buying doesn’t have to be the best part. The main pleasure is in walking around and choosing things. Stureplan should become a point in your Christmas Eve tour. You will never find such a site with such a Scandinavian spirit in any other place of the world.
If you feel tired of shopping – visit a great skating rink situated not far away. Tourists from other countries like that ice-skating rink and often come there. That is why the skating rink is the most suitable place for striking up new acquaintances.
Family entertainment
Visitors of all ages will appreciate Stockholm museums. However, there are some activities aimed mainly on parents and children. For example, you could go with your children to Stockholm circus. Great artists will prepare something really exciting. Your kids will be thankful and happy, no doubts! Family leisure should be spent in nice places like Stockholm circus.
There are also ferry tours. They begin near Opera and then get to the small islands. However, please remember that strong wind is not a suitable weather for sea tours. They offer thick buck skin to all tourists, so don’t be modest and ask the employees about that. But if the weather is still and it doesn’t snow you will enjoy really unforgettable landscapes of winter Stockholm.
Have fun in Stockholm!
Let’s remember that Stockholm is a Northern capital and between times it’s cold there. Even if the air temperature looks bearable the wind can ruin all plans. Then it’s worth looking for an indoor kind of activity.
Young tourists and just those who like suspense will definitely appreciate local escape rooms. You can check Questrooms, Exit Games and other sites like that. Experienced escape room fans may visit more than two dozens of rooms of that kind!
The National Museum and the Royal Opera are amazing options for an afternoon visit. The Stockholm bars are awesome and you literally must check them. The best place for tasting Stockholm nightlife is the Medieval town. Normally clubs of Stockholm look just like other such places in Europe. Swedish beer is incredibly specific and is certainly worth trying without regarding the price. Stockholm nightlife is really active. City center is full of awesome nightclubs, pubs and bars. Everyone will quickly and easily find a cool place.
Picturesque view of the capital
Globe-shaped Sports Center is another attraction of Stockholm. Actually, it’s the biggest ball in the world. It makes it a very interesting place to visit especially because it has an outstanding viewing point. The revolving deck moves around the Center and gets to the height of 130 meters! Entire Stockholm will be seen in plain sight.
Don’t think twice and choose Stockholm as your Christmas holidays destination!
