Christmas in Stockholm
Stockholm has a unique reputation among all other world capitals. Snowy winter turns the capital of Sweden into an incredibly fantastic town. The best way to check what Stockholm Christmas Eve looks and smells like is to walk around the Old Town. Probably it is due to that fabulous spirit that presents in the old market.
Turn into a baker
There is a famous place in Stockholm called Skansen. This well-known open-air museum was founded in 1891. All sorts of Swedish architecture are presented here. Furthermore, there are whole buildings not only preserved but still working! Schools, bakeris, post offices and forging shops are the most attractive during the last pre-Christmas evening when everybody can go inside and join funny competitions.
Skansen is also the host of the Christmas marketplace during whole December. All people who want to know what “Stockholm tourism” is about should definitely visit it. If you are not a a big shopper you can, let’s say, try baking some bread with the 19th century equipment. Looks challenging, doesn’t it?
Skansen market attracts more than thousand visitors daily. Patience will help you a lot since there probably will be queues and crowd, although it’s still worth coming.
When non-shoppers like shopping
Stureplan square is an exciting place with fantastic market. People like strolling around and noticing cool things. Stureplan should be a point of your Christmas Eve tour. There is no better attraction in the whole world which preserves such a Scandinavian ambience.
After the shopping you can go for ice-skating and have a great fun with your family. Foreign guests like that ice-skating spot and often come there. It makes the skating rink the best place for meeting new people.
Family entertainment
Undoubtedly, museums of Stockholm are a nice choice for both adults and children. However, you can find a lot of special “family attractions”. For example, you could go together to Stockholm circus. Great performers always prepare something incredibly exciting. Don’t worry, your kids will not leave the circus dissatisfied! Family time should be spent in nice places just like Stockholm circus.
Another great thing is ferry. They start near Opera and go through the group of small islands. Anyway, please remember that strong wind is not a good weather for taking sea trips. They have thick buck skin to all tourists, so don’t be shy and ask the employees about that. When there is fine weather a ferry trip is a perfect solution.
Fun for everyone
Stockholm has a small daylight in December and sometimes the weather is just horrible. Even if it’s zero degrees a biting local wind can make it feel like it’s -15C at least. Then it’s worth looking for some indoor activity.
Young tourists and just those who love suspense will definitely appreciate Stockholm escape rooms. Exit Games, Questrooms and lots of other places are waiting for you. Experienced escape room fans may find more than two dozens of rooms like this!
The National Museum and the Royal Opera are great options for an afternoon occupation. Nightlife in Stockholm is one more interesting attraction for all the tourists. The best place for night hanging out is the old town. Swedish bars and clubs look nearly the same like in the rest of European countries. Swedish capital is a rather costly place, but you must try the local beer brands. Awesome nightlife is also a significant characteristic about the capital of Sweden. City center is full of awesome nightclubs, pubs and bars. It’s not a big deal to find a nice place to stay.
Enjoy a great view of Stockholm
The Sports Center in Stockholm has the shape of a large globe. Check out the largest ball in the world. This building has another attraction besides its shape – there is an outstanding sightseeing desk there. You will see entire Stockholm at a plain sight from the height of 130 meters! Entire Stockholm will be seen in plain sight.
