Christmas in the fairy tale
Speaking about the most amusing capitals of Europe Stockholm dawns upon first. In the winter time it resembles a storybook place due to neat streets and decorated buildings all along the streets. By some reason the old part of Stockholm looks much more attractive in winter than in summer. It has its own inimitable spirit with the handmade souvenirs, marketplace, tasty chestnuts and of course, glogg.
Become a baker
Skansen can be found among the most memorable places in Swedish capital. This well-known open-air museum was built in 1891. Fans of the local architecture will be incredibly happy. Moreover, there are buildings not only preserved but still functioning! Bakeries, schools, post offices and forging shops are the most charming during the last pre-Christmas evening when everyone can enter them and participate in funny competitions.
Skansen also holds the Christmas marketplace during whole December. All people who would like to know what “Stockholm tourism” is in reality should certainly visit it. You are not feeling like buying souvenirs? OK, but what do you think about baking Christmas bread in the bakery from 19th century? Challenging enough, isn’t it?
Skansen market gathers more than thousand visitors daily. Please, be patient and don’t run away from crowd and queues and you will feel the festive atmosphere.
Shopping for non-shoppers
You will quickly become a true shopping fan if you visit Stureplan square. People love strolling around and noticing interesting things. Stureplan should become a point in your Christmas Eve tour. You will hardly find such a site with such a Scandinavian spirit in any part of the planet.
If you are exhausted of doing shopping – go to a great skating rink situated not far away. Tourists from other countries love that skating rink and quite often go there. It means that if you want to meet new friends it can be a perfect place for that.
Family fare
Undoubtedly, Stockholm museums are a great leisure solution for kids and adults. Anyway, there are some activities aimed mainly on parents and children. Stockholm circus would be a great choice. Every show there is good for spending time with family. The kids will be thankful and happy, no doubts! Stockholm circus is a must-see place for any family tour.
There are also tours on ferry. One can find a ferry near the Opera and go for a fantastic tour around the area. Anyway, please keep in mind that severe wind is not a suitable weather for taking sea trips. You will find thick and warm buck skins on a ferry for the people who are cold. You can enjoy splendid views from the deck if the weather is nice.
Have fun in Stockholm!
Stockholm has a small daylight in winter and from time to time the weather is just unbearable. Low temperature is typically not annoying, but the wind is. When it got windy in the street it can be a good idea to spend time inside.
One may also check out the local escape rooms that are very popular among guests from all over the world. Exit Games, Questrooms and other places are at your service. Experienced escapers may go to more than 2 dozens of rooms of that kind!
The National Museum and the Royal Opera suit well for an afternoon occupation. Nightlife in Stockholm is one more amusing tourists’ attraction. The old town is just full of clubs and bars. Normally clubs of Stockholm look a lot like clubs in Europe. Swedish beer is very tasty and is worth trying without looking at the price. Active nightlife is another significant thing of Stockholm. All you need to do is to go out late and walk along the streets. It’s not a big deal to find a nice place to stay.
Picturesque view of the capital
The Sports Center in Stockholm has the shape of a large globe. Check out the largest ball in the world. In addition, you could enjoy a great view from the Sports Center viewing platform. The revolving deck moves around the Center and gets to the height of 130 meters! The Stockholm view from there is really breathtaking.
