Old Town Stockholm

Christmas in the fairy tale

Stockholm is a capital that cannot be compared to others. Snowy winter turns the capital of Sweden into an incredibly cozy town. The best way to see what Stockholm Christmas Eve smells and looks like is to walk around the Old Town. You will be surprised with its look and with the old market located there.

Turn into a baker

Skansen is probably one of the most remarkable places in Stockholm. It is a very popular outdoor museum founded long ago in 1891. All kinds of local architecture are presented here. Furthermore, there are whole buildings which are not only preserved until now but still functioning! The most fascinating things begin in the evening of December, 24.

It the second half of December there is a nice Christmas market in Skansen. If you wish to feel the winter ambience of Swedish capital – come here. If you are not a shopping fan you can, let’s say, try your hands in baking some bread using the 19th century equipment. Looks challenging, doesn’t it?

Several hunderds of people come to Skansen market daily. It means that you are recommended to be prepared for a large crowd and be patient.

When non-shoppers like shopping

Stureplan square is an amusing place with fantastic local market. Buying is actually not the best part. The biggest pleasure is in walking around and choosing things. It’s really a great plan to come to to Stureplan on Christmas Eve. One will never find such a site with such a Scandinavian atmosphere in any other place of the planet.

Ice-skating is a great activity after shopping, the skating rink is quite near to Stureplan. It’s a public place where mainly foreign tourists spend time. It turns the skating rink into a perfect place for meeting new people.

Family entertainment

The Stockholm museums are interesting for both young and adult guests. All in all, there are certain attractions created for parents and kids. Tourists adore Stockholm circus so it would be great if you take your family there. Great artists will prepare something really exciting. Don’t worry, the kids will not be disappointed! Family leisure should be spent in interesting places just like Stockholm circus.

Ferry trips are exciting too. Find a ferry near the Opera and join a great tour around the area. But one should be very careful – in a windy day it can be really cold on board. But even if you are cold you may always ask the employees for a big and warm buck skin. You can delight your eyes with splendid views from the deck if the weather is nice.

Fun for everyone

Let’s remember that Stockholm is a Nordic capital and occasionally it is cold there. Low temperature is not annoying, however the penetrating wind is. When it got windy outside it could be a reasonable idea to spend time at home.

Young tourists and just the enthusiasts who love thrilling ambience will appreciate local escape rooms. Check Questrooms, Exit Games and other attraction sites like that. Experienced escape room fans can go to more than 2 dozens of places of that kind!

Local museums and Royal Opera ideally suit for an afternoon or evening. At night it will be an awesome decision to relax in a local bar. The greatest place for checking out Stockholm nightlife is the old town. Stockholm bars and clubs look more or less the same like in other European countries. Swedish capital is a rather expensive city, but you must try the local beer. Active nightlife is another significant thing about Stockholm. City center is full of awesome nightclubs, pubs and bars. Everyone will quickly and easily find a cool place.

Picturesque view of the capital

Stockholm Sports Center looks like a very big ball. Actually, it’s the biggest ball in the world. It makes it a very interesting place to visit especially because it has an outstanding viewing point. You will see entire Stockholm at a plain sight from the height of 130 meters! The entire city will be in front of you.

There are many other exciting attractions in Stockholm – come here for Christmas and check them out!
