Christmas in the fairy tale
Stockholm is a capital that can’t be compared to any other. Winter Stockholm looks like a part belonging to a fantasy world. Stockholm older part looks perfect all the time, however in winter it becomes incredibly charming. Maybe the reason is the fabulous spirit that presents in the old marketplace.
Bake your Christmas bread
As for the Stockholm attractions we’d like to mention Skansen. Since 1891 Skansen has remained the most interesting open-air museum in Scandinavia. All types of local architecture can be seen here. What is more, some of those historical buildings still work! Schools, bakeris, forges and post offices are the most attractive during the last pre-Christmas evening when everybody can go inside and take part in funny competitions.
In December, for example, they arrange a great Christmas market in Skansen. All tourists who wish to learn what “Stockholm tourism” is in reality should certainly visit it. If you are not a shopping fan you can, for instance, try your hands in baking some bread with the 19th century equipment. Challenging enough, isn’t it?
Hunders of guests come to Skansen market every day. It means that you should be ready for a big crowd and be patient.
Shopping for non-shoppers
You will quickly become a real shopper if you go to Stureplan square. Buying doesn’t have to be the best part. The main satisfaction is in walking around and finding unusual things. It’s really a great plan to come to to Stureplan on Christmas Eve. There is no other attraction in the whole world that has this Scandinavian spirit.
After shopping you could go for ice-skating and have a great entertainment with your friends. Tourists from other countries like that ice-skating spot and quite often go there. It makes the rink an ideal place for meeting new people.
Family entertainment
Travelers of all ages will highly appreciate Stockholm museums. All in all, there are certain attractions made for families. For instance, you could go with your children to Stockholm circus. They have a wide selection of performances for the families. Don’t worry, the kids will not be dissatisfied! All kids like exciting performances so they will fall in love with Stockholm circus.
Ferry trips are fascinating as well. You can take it near the Opera and have a travel to small amusing islands. But please remember that blowing weather is not good for water tours. They have buck skin to all tourists, so don’t be shy and ask the employees about that. You can enjoy splendid views from the deck if it is not snowy.
Fun for everyone
Sweden is a Northern land and from time to time the weather gets really tough. Low temperature is typically not annoying, but the penetrating wind is. Wind is a great obstacle which can make you give up and vote for some indoor activity.
You could also go to the local escape rooms which are really popular among guests from all parts of the world. Check Questrooms, Exit Games and other sites like that. There are several dozens of such rooms here in Stockholm!
Royal Opera and museums are great for an afternoon leisure. Stockholm nightlife is one more interesting attraction for the travelers. The best place for checking out Stockholm nightlife is the Medieval town. Normally nightclubs in Stockholm look just like clubs in Europe. Swedish beer is incredibly specific and is certainly worth trying without regarding the price. Nightlife of Stockholm is very stormy. All you need to do is to go out and walk along the streets. It’s not a big deal to find a nice place to stay.
Picturesque view of the capital
The Sports Center in Stockholm has the shape of a large globe. Actually, it’s the biggest ball in the world. This building has another attraction besides its shape – there is an outstanding sightseeing desk there. You will see entire Stockholm at a plain sight from the height of 130 meters! The entire city will be in front of you.
