Sweden is renowned for high prices
Transport Stockholm
Sweden is renowned for high prices. Budget travellers may feel uncomfortable during their Stockholm stay. But it doesn´t have to be that way. The well prepared tourist should enjoy the visit to this beautiful and somewhat eccentric part of the world even on economy class. This article lists affordable transports and internet connectivity options for the Stockholm area.
Stockholm´s Arlanda airport is 50 km north of the city. Bus transfer is the more affordable and takes 50 mins, give or take 10 mins during rush hours. Look for the sign «Flygbuss» on both left and right hand side of the arrival. Coaches are on time and frequent. Scheduled departures are updated at the bus stop. Tickets can be booked in
advance at «swedavia.com» and cost $12 one way. Coaches have free WiFi and arrive at Stockholm´s central station.
The best choice for further transfer is the tube which is fast and comfortable. You need to know that tickets for all transfer, not only the tube, are not available neither in the buses nor in the tube access points and tramway wagons themselves but in nearby «SL-senter», «Pressbyrå» and «7eleven». A ticket is valid 1hr 15 mins from first time stamp at entry and costs $4. Tickets must be kept during transfer for control at exit gates. Public transports offer free and high quality WiFi.
Mobile Stockholm
For staying beyond a couple of days local connectivity is recommended, available at far lower rates than international roaming. Local access is high speed format 4G with flawless coverage. You need a SIM card from a Swedish mobile operator. Like transfer tickets SIM cards are available at «Pressbyrå» and «7eleven» for $12. Personal ID is not needed. You can also refill mobile accounts.
