Christmas in the fairy tale
Talking about the most amusing capitals of Europe Stockholm comes to mind first. In winter it looks like a fairytale town with all those clean and neat streets and decorated buildings all along the streets. Stockholm older part looks great all the time, but in winter it gains additional charm. You will be astonished with its tremendous look and with the old market located there.
Become a baker
Skansen belongs to the most remarkable places in Stockholm. Since 1891 Skansen has remained the most amusing open-air museum in entire Scandinavia. Fans of Swedish architecture will be satisfied. Moreover, there are some buildings which are not only preserved until now but still working! You just need to come in the last evening before Christmas and see yourself those old bakeries, post offices and forging shops.
In December, for example, they arrange a great Christmas market in Skansen. All people who would like to know what “Stockholm tourism” is like should definitely visit it. In case if you are not a shopper you can, let’s say, try baking bread using the 19th century bakery equipment. Looks challenging, doesn’t it?
Several hunderds of guests come to Skansen market every day. Patience will save you a lot of energy here since there will certainly be queues and crowd, although it’s still worth coming.
When non-shoppers like shopping
You will quickly become a true shopping fan if you visit Stureplan square. Some say that the pleasure is related not to the things you pay for but to the process itself. Stureplan should definitely be a point of your Christmas Eve route. There is no better place in the whole world that has such a Scandinavian spirit.
Ice-skating is a good activity after shopping, the rink is quite near to Stureplan. It’s a well-known place where mostly foreigners come. It turns the skating rink into an ideal place for meeting new people.
Family entertainment
The Stockholm museums are interesting for both young and adult guests. However, you can find some “family attractions”. Stockholm circus would be an awesome choice. Every show there is suitable for spending time with family. Your kids will have so much fun! Stockholm circus is a must-see place for any tour with family.
There are also tours on ferry. You can take it near the Opera and then go to one of small amusing islands. But one should be careful – if it’s a windy day it can be very cold on board. But even if you are cold you can always ask the employees for a big and warm buck skin. You can enjoy incomparable views from the ferry if it is not snowy.
Have fun in Stockholm!
Stockholm has a small daylight in December and from time to time the weather gets simply unbearable. Even if it’s zero degrees outside a keen local wind can make you feel like -15C or even worse. Wind is something really annoying which can make you choose some indoor activities.
Young tourists quite often suggest visiting local escape rooms emphasizing their tremendous design and plot. You can visit Questrooms, Exit Games and other sites like that. There are nearly three dozens of those rooms in Stockholm!
The National Museum and the Royal Opera are amazing options for an afternoon pastime. Nightlife in Stockholm is one more interesting tourists’ attraction. The greatest place for night hanging out is the old town. Basically the majority of Stockholm pubs and bars could be compared to their European counterparts. The capital of Sweden is a rather expensive city, but you must taste the local beer. Nightlife of Stockholm is really stormy. All you need is to go out and walk along the streets. You will find a nice bar or club very soon.
See the whole globe from the Globe
Globe-shaped Sports Center is another attraction of Stockholm. Check out the largest ball in the world. In addition, you could enjoy a great view from the Sports Center viewing platform. You will see entire Stockholm at a plain sight from the height of 130 meters! Entire Stockholm will be seen in plain sight.
Don’t think twice and choose Stockholm as your Christmas holidays destination!
